The group was selected from Brownie troops across the UK to take part in a celebrity sleepover at ‘Top Trump Towers’ in London and made the trip on-board a special UNICEF liveried easyJet plane.
The Giant Sleepover is one of the world’s largest sleepovers with thousands of children from across Scotland and England sleeping over at venues up and down the country to raise money for UNICEF. The group of 21 Brownies were selected thanks to the dedication of their Brown Owl Jane Coates who has supported The Giant Sleepover for the past six years.
The youngsters, aged between seven and ten years old, departed Edinburgh Airport with easyJet before being whisked into the city by National Express on their VIP trip. They’ll enjoy a Top Trump Turbo tournament, twister, bed time stories and treats at Top Trumps Towers as well as raising money for UNICEF’s lifesaving work for children around the world through sponsorship and the activities on the night.
Brown Owl Jane Coates, from Fife, said: ""We’re so proud to have been selected for UNICEF UK’s exclusive sleepover at Top Trump Towers. This really is a trip of a lifetime for the girls and I’m glad we’re helping to raise money of such a worthy charity. This is the first time many of the Brownies have flown anywhere so they couldn’t wait to get on board the easyJet plane. 18 of the girls haven’t been to London before so it’s doubly exciting!""
easyJet’s support for The Giant Sleepover is part of the airline’s wider partnership with UNICEF. The ‘Change for Good’ partnership enables easyJet passengers to help UNICEF to save children’s lives by donating their spare change on board has already raised over £1 million across easyJet’s network.
David Bull, UNICEF UK Executive Director says; ""The Giant Sleepover is a fantastic way for children to have some fun and raise money for UNICEF UK and it’s particularly exciting that easyJet have come on board to fly the Brownies down from Scotland for their special London sleepover. A huge thanks to easyJet and the Brownies for doing their bit for the world’s children.""
