easyJet, Europe’s leading airline, has today announced it has added 12 weekly summer flights from London Luton Airport to Amsterdam and Barcelona and an extra daily flight to Zurich next winter.

An extra 85,000 seats between Luton and the Dutch and the Catalan Capitals are now available, taking easyJet’s year round frequency to Barcelona to three flights a day, with up to six flights a day available between Luton and Amsterdam. The extra seats mean easyJet will carry almost three quarters of a million passengers a year on the two routes to and from Luton.

easyJet has also announced its intentions to double its daily flights to Switzerland’s largest city, Zurich next winter.

The airline is seeing strong growth at Luton and now has an unrivalled network of over 51 routes served from the Airport.

easyJet’s UK Commercial Manager, Neil Slaven, commented:

“Amsterdam, Barcelona and Zurich are extremely popular connections from Luton and we’re therefore delighted to be able to cater for the extra demand. In doing so it enables us to continue our expansion at the Airport.

“We have added a significant number of extra seats which allows us to continue to provide affordable, convenient connections for our customers whether they’re travelling on business or leisure.”

easyJet will base an additional four aircraft at Luton this year bringing the total number of based aircraft to 19. The airline is expected to fly over 6 million passengers from the airport this year, an increase of 500,000 in the last 12 months.

Last month easyJet representatives joined London Luton Airport management and the Secretary of State for Transport, Patrick McLoughlin at a ground breaking ceremony to mark the official start of the £110m redevelopment of the airport.

About easyJet:

easyJet is Europe’s leading airline offering a unique and winning combination of the best route network connecting Europe's primary airports, with great value fares and friendly service.

easyJet flies on more of Europe’s most popular routes than any other airline. easyJet carries over 68 million passengers annually, of which more than 12 million are travelling on business. easyJet flies over 240 aircraft on more than 780 routes to over 130 airports across 32 countries. More than 300 million Europeans live within one hour's drive of an easyJet airport.

easyJet aims to be a good corporate citizen, employing people on local contracts in seven countries across Europe in full compliance with national laws and recognising their trade unions. The airline supports a number of local charities and also has a corporate partnership with UNICEF which has raised over £6m for the most vulnerable children since it was established in 2012.

The airline takes sustainability seriously. easyJet invests in the latest technology, operates efficiently and fills most of its seats which means that an easyJet passenger's carbon footprint is 22% less than a passenger on a traditional airline, flying the same aircraft on the same route.

Innovation is in easyJet’s DNA – from our launch almost 20 years ago when we changed the way people fly to the present day where we lead the industry in digital, web, engineering and operational innovations to make travel more easy and affordable for our passengers.
