Ali Gayward, easyJet Commercial Manager commented: ""We are thrilled to be announcing new routes for Liverpool and have carefully selected destinations to compliment the wide range of cities we already serve from the airport. The news demonstrates easyJet’s continued commitment to Liverpool as one our largest airport bases in the UK and a key gateway to the North of England.

""Our new services to Nantes and Newquay should prove popular with UK holidaymakers and business travellers looking for an easy and affordable way to reach Western France or Cornwall. Our fares will start from as little as £27.49* one way.""

Craig Richmond, CEO Peel Airports commented, ""We are naturally delighted that easyJet are looking to grow their business from Liverpool further. These new routes help to increase the choice and widen the range of destinations on offer from here for passengers from across the North West. We look forward to continuing to work closely with easyJet to explore further opportunities over the coming weeks too.""

Last month easyJet launched allocated seating across all services from Liverpool John Lennon Airport. Passengers are now provided with a seat number for free when they check in. Customers who wish to select a specific seat can do so for a fee of £3, £8 or £12 depending on their seat preference.

easyJet has trialled allocated seating since April with nearly 2 million passengers flying on 12,500 allocated seating flights. Research among these passengers has shown that 71% think allocated seating is better due to the improved boarding experience, while over 60% said that they are more likely to fly with easyJet in the future as a result.

*All fares are one way, based on two people booking together
