easyJet, Europe’s leading airline, celebrated carrying 50m passengers from Bristol on Friday, marking the milestone with a prize giveaway for the lucky passenger.
easyJet launched operations from Bristol 17 years ago, and is now the airport’s largest airline, remaining committed to the airport with sustainable growth and flying over 50m passengers with low fares and friendly customer service.
The milestone was celebrated by easyJet giving the lucky 50 millionth passenger, Emma Wilson, a pair of prize flights from Bristol to a destination of their choice.
easyJet serves 67 destinations from Bristol airport, the airline’s biggest base outside of London, with a total of 15 based aircraft from May. easyJet continues to develop and grow in Bristol with an increase in capacity this year of over 7%.
Ali Gayward, easyJet UK Country Manager, said:
“I am really excited that we have flown our 50 millionth passenger from Bristol. As our largest base outside of London, we are proudly committed to continued sustainable growth at the airport.
“This year we have offered a significant number of extra seats to the base which allows us to continue to fly Bristol passengers to fantastic destinations such as Stockholm and Barcelona.
“This is a fantastic milestone for us, and we look forward to continuing to serve Bristol passengers with low fares and friendly customer service.”
Nigel Scott, Business Development Director, Bristol Airport said:
“This is an incredible milestone and a demonstration of the successful partnership between easyJet and Bristol Airport. This summer will see easyJet base fifteen aircraft, flying to over 60 business and leisure destinations from Bristol Airport. The route network offers passengers in the region an extensive choice and flexibility of flights, whilst using their local airport. Since 2001 easyJet have steadily grown their base at Bristol Airport and invested in a large fleet of Airbus aircraft, supporting the strong aircraft manufacturing sector in the region.
“We look forward to further development of the long standing relationship between both companies and extending the route network in the future.”

easyJet is Europe’s leading airline offering a unique and winning combination of the best route network connecting Europe's primary airports, with great value fares and friendly service.
easyJet flies on more of Europe’s most popular routes than any other airline. easyJet carries over 82 million passengers annually, of which more than 13 million are travelling on business. easyJet flies 298 aircraft on more than 980 routes to 156 airports across 33 countries. More than 300 million Europeans live within one hour's drive of an easyJet airport.
easyJet aims to be a good corporate citizen, employing people on local contracts in seven countries across Europe in full compliance with national laws and recognising their trade unions. The airline supports a number of local charities and also has a corporate partnership with UNICEF which has raised over £10m for the most vulnerable children since it was established in 2012.
The airline takes sustainability seriously. easyJet invests in the latest technology, operates efficiently and fills most of its seats which means that an easyJet passenger's carbon footprint is 22% less than a passenger on a traditional airline, flying the same aircraft on the same route.
Innovation is in easyJet’s DNA – from our launch over 20 years ago when we changed the way people fly to the present day where we lead the industry in digital, web, engineering and operational innovations to make travel more easy and affordable for our passengers.
