Passengers were taken by surprise to see Hollywood A-listers Will Smith, Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp pictured together on an easyJet flight from London Gatwick to Geneva. Following pictures of Madonna on a budget airline earlier this month, pictures circulating earlier on social media reportedly showed the stars chatting onboard, creating excitement amongst passengers.
And some speculated on what three of the hottest names in Hollywood could be doing together? After much rumour….it can now be revealed they were in fact lookalikes, planted by the airline to celebrate the launch of easyJet’s new inflight entertainment. And they caused quite a stir posing for photos and signing autographs for passengers on the flight and in the airport.
The new ‘Air Time’ inflight entertainment system will fly initially on five of easyJet’s Swiss aircraft as part of a trial before being rolled out across easyJet fleet of 279 airbus A320 aircraft.
Developed in partnership with Immfly, entertainment package provider Rakuten, ‘Air Time’ will enable easyJet customers to tune in to a wide range of short-haul suited entertainment including TV and film, kids entertainment, games and audio books as well as easyJet flight information and destination guides, on their own devices.
Andrew Middleton, easyJet's Ancillary Director commented:
“Whilst we couldn’t quite prise the real superstars away from LA or their latest film set, we are delighted to have had a bit of fun with passengers. Who better than three of Hollywood’s most recognised stars of the screen to showcase our new Air Time Inflight Entertainment System which offers the latest movies, TV box sets and more to our passengers for free.”
Content will cover multiple languages including English, German, French, Spanish and Italian and feature services such as onboard language tutorials and digital pacifiers.
The easy-to-use portal will be accessible through the user’s own device browser which will connect to the onboard wireless network, while in flight mode.

easyJet flies on more of Europe’s most popular routes than any other airline. easyJet carries over 78 million passengers annually, of which more than 12 million are travelling on business. easyJet flies over 279 aircraft on more than 880 routes to over 140 airports across 31 countries. More than 300 million Europeans live within one hour's drive of an easyJet airport.
easyJet aims to be a good corporate citizen, employing people on local contracts in seven countries across Europe in full compliance with national laws and recognising their trade unions. The airline supports a number of local charities and also has a corporate partnership with UNICEF which has raised over £9m for the most vulnerable children since it was established in 2012.
The airline takes sustainability seriously. easyJet invests in the latest technology, operates efficiently and fills most of its seats which means that an easyJet passenger's carbon footprint is 22% less than a passenger on a traditional airline, flying the same aircraft on the same route.
