easyJet, the UK’s largest airline, picked up the Best Short-Haul Airline Award at the 2014 Business Travel Awards this week.

Ruth Spratt, Head of Sales UK for easyJet, collected the award on behalf of easyJet. Commenting on the win she said:

“We are really pleased to have won the Best Short-Haul Airline Award at the Business Travel Awards as it is judged by  key players in the business travel industry including the travel managers and buyers from many  large international companies.

“We are particularly pleased that the judges commented on our proactive engagement with the corporate market as well as  easyJet’s extensive business route network and schedule, young fleet and impressive punctuality record.

“Over the last few years easyJet has been successfully growing its share of the managed corporate travel market. Alongside our famous low fares, a raft of innovations including our GDS partnerships, new product enhancements like allocated seating, Inclusive Fares and Fast Track security have all contributed to enabling us to compete more effectively with legacy carriers and gain a larger slice of the business travel market.”

easyJet carries more than 11 million business passengers annually. The airline was one of the first in the low cost sector to make its inventory available to business travel bookers through GDS partners in 2011 and 2012.

Last year easyJet launched an Inclusive Fare for corporate passengers and travel bookers looking for easy, one-step transactions. The great value fare combines services important to corporate bookers, such as a bag and seat selection. The new Inclusive Fare is only available through the GDS and other booking systems connected to the easyJet API.

In the past two years easyJet has also made great strides into the corporate travel arena by signing a large number of corporate contracts including a corporate travel deal with the Houses of Parliament and many Travel Management Companies (TMCs) across Europe.

Business passengers are attracted to easyJet due to the airline's low fares, industry leading punctuality and friendly service across Europe’s leading network – all of these factors help the airline to both attract and retain new business customers.
