easyJet, the UK's largest airline, has today marked the Christmas festivities with its passengers by achieving a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title by performing the highest altitude carol concert during a flight from London Gatwick to Geneva. The ACM Gospel Choir, who formed in 2005 and have recently been named Best Gospel Act at the Urban Music Awards, performed a carol concert onboard the aircraft for passengers on flight EZY8468 which departed London at 10:45am this morning. The concert lasted 15 minutes, taking place at an altitude of 39,000ft.  The choir, who rose to fame when they reached the semi-finals of BBC One’s Last Choir Standing, and have been on to tour with Russell Watson, recorded with Robbie Williams, Scouting For Girls and Olly Murs and sung as special guests for HRH The Queen on numerous occasions, performed a selection of Christmas carols as part of the concert including Jingle Bells, Silent night and O Come All Ye Faithful. The live performance is part of a wider easyJet Christmas celebration which has seen passengers singing carols onboard on several flights throughout December. Paul Moore, Communications Director for easyJet said: ""We thought our passengers would enjoy this festive form of inflight entertainment and to achieve a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title at the same time as filling the plane with seasonal songs is the icing on the Christmas cake! Thanks to the fantastic ACM Gospel Choir, who sang so brilliantly onboard the flight today helping us to achieve this first for both easyJet and Guinness World Records.""Mark De-Lisser, ACM Gospel Choir Director and Vocal Coach, said:  “Singing is what we do and we have sung in some amazing, weird and even dangerous places but to be given the opportunity to sing some festive cheer to the on board passengers as we cruise at over 39,000ft is truly out of this world. Achieving a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title at the same time is a great end to a very eventful year for the choir.”Following the concert on board, the choir collected funds for UNICEF, the world’s leading children’s organisation. From the 8th December to 6th February passengers are encouraged to donate their spare change to UNICEF on board all of easyJet’s European flights. The Change for Good collection follows on from the successful summer collection and recent emergency appeal which supported UNICEF’s continuing efforts in West Africa tackling the Ebola crisis. To date over £3.9 million has been raised for UNICEF through the easyJet and UNICEF partnership and the generosity of easyJet customers.
