easyJet, the UK’s largest airline, has seen bookings for summer flood in after this week’s wet weather hit.
On Monday and Tuesday, when a month’s worth of rain fell in two days, UK bookings rose by 6% compared with the same two days last year
The most popular destinations were Alicante, Faro, Palma and Malaga as British holidaymakers searched for ‘guaranteed’ sun.
This summer will be easyJet’s busiest ever, with nearly 8 million passengers set to travel with easyJet in August alone – 400,000 more than last summer.
Sophie Dekkers, UK Director for easyJet, commented;
“With some speculating that this summer could be the wettest on record UK passengers aren’t taking their chances.
“For those who haven’t yet booked, easyJet still has seats available and there are still some bargains to be had for a last minute summer deal to escape the British weather.
From 5pm today, easyJet will be offering up to 20% off 240,000 seats on selected routes to and from the UK. Flights will be available to book until midnight Tuesday 9 August for travel from 31st August until 14th December 2016 at www.easyJet.com.
